Pharmacy and Medication: Pharmacies can distribute emergency supplies of your medication even if you have not been able to contact your provider. Here is an updated list of pharmacies that are open in WNC.
Food, water, and other emergency resources: This site is updated regularly with information about recovery resources in the area.
Housing, shelter, and other emergency resources: This is the NC Housing Coalition’s resource database.
Emergency Childcare: https://emergencychildcare.org offers free childcare by trained professionals for children impacted by the hurricane.
Medical Care: Adult residents of Western North Carolina can see a UNC Health primary care provider for mild symptoms without an appointment through UNC Health Virtual Care free of charge. Virtual Care is offered 6am-10pm, 7 days a week. Access virtual care HERE.
Mental Health Resources:
Local and NC licensed clinicians offering pro bono (free) sessions for first responders and those impacted by the disaster
Open Path Psychotherapy Collective, which is based in Asheville, is an incredible resource for affordable counseling.
BetterHelp**, an online therapy platform, is offering three months of free counseling to those impacted by Hurricane Helene. You can redeem the free counseling by visiting betterhelp.com/voucher and using the code hurricane-helene-support. **caveat: there have been issues in the past with this organization and client privacy. Any port in a storm but important to know.
Support Groups
SeekHealing is offering listening circles every Wednesday and Sunday from 1-6 pm on the first floor of the United Way building at 50 S. French Broad Ave.

Spiritual Care
If you are struggling with grief and loss through this disaster there is support for navigating grief. This is a free service for our community, via phone or telehealth. Watershed Ways is offered by Jeanne Marie, who lived and worked in North Carolina for several years. She knows and loves our mountains and people. She is a seasoned Quaker minister and life coach specializing in navigating grief, with a special care for people surviving natural disaster.
